Based near Charlotte, North Carolina, April Hartman is a self-taught painter inspired by the wildlife and landscapes of the Southeast. Driven by a lifelong passion for the visual arts, April’s creative journey began in childhood, earning early recognition with exhibitions at the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts and the California Governor’s Office. After dedicating years to raising and educating her four children, she returned fully to her first love of painting. April finds this "middle season" of life to be an incredibly rich era for creative pursuits, balancing her active studio practice with her work as a multidisciplinary fiber artist and instructor in Charlotte.

As a self-taught painter, her education is a continuous, intuitive evolution. Fueled by a deep curiosity, she embraces an experimental approach to her work, constantly exploring new painterly techniques and diverse subject matter.
